Books for MSPs: a review of PSA Profitability

We at Goolash are always looking out for great ideas and tips to share with our MSP partners to help them achieve their goals. Today we're skipping on the technical stuff and instead want to share a book with you. We recently read the book PSA Profitability by Chris Timm from Sondela Consulting.

This is a practical, easy-to-read guide for MSPs on how to choose, implement and use a PSA Tool. It shows you how to get the most out of your PSA tool.

The book starts off guiding you step-by-step through the decision-making process on which PSA tool would fit your company. In this process he explains how to think about CRM, Service Desk, project management, invoicing tools and what the general benefits are of using a PSA tool in a MSP.

Afterwards the author demonstrates that if you implement your PSA tool in the right way, your MSP becomes more efficient, you work smarter and become more scalable. Ultimately it makes your business more profitable.

A good implementation of the PSA tool in your business is the key to success. The book also touches on migrating from your existing tools. You will discover how to get this job done by importing customers and their contracts, the products and services you sell and the support tickets from your existing systems.

We particularly enjoyed the book's explanation on configuring your PSA tool to manage burden rates, products and services and, ultimately, billing for profitability. The book even offers a number of worksheets and tools to help you set up your system, which makes the book very practical and hands-on.

No matter how big or small your business is, any MSP will benefit greatly from the tools and techniques offered in this book. You'll be confident in taking the next steps to grow as a company.

The reason we chose this book for our blog post is because we at Goolash share the same goal as this book, which is to help MSPs to work smarter and ultimately become more profitable.

Not sure which PSA tool to choose for your MSP or still not getting the most out of the PSA tool you use already? This book will help you answer these questions.
